Acqua Iguazu yoo Inspired by Starck in Manila
My mom and I always get curious whenever there’s a new condominium in town. We want to see the architecture, the amenities, and of course, the designs of the model units. It gives us inspiration to re-design our house- continuously. Haha.
I had the chance to attend the groundbreaking ceremony of Acqua Iguazu, the newest residential project of Century Properties with more than 50 storeys and approximately 400 units. It’s the fifth building to rise within the developer’s 2.4-hectare Acqua Private Residences project in Mandaluyong City. It’s a much-awaited development as Acqua Iguazu is the first residential tower in the Philippines to be interior designed by the UK-based yoo, the design company founded by the world’s most celebrated living designer, Philippe Stark, and the international property entrepreneur, John Hitchcox.
French designer Philippe Stark is known globally for his groundbreaking design and innovative spins on everyday products from toothbrushes to lamps, automobiles and even a yacht. The British real estate entrepreneur John Hitchcox is credited for founding the Manhattan Loft Project, the firm responsible for giving rise to the concept of loft living across London.

I’m looking forward to the “Cielo”, a multi-level amenity deck full of yoo inspired by Stark design. It will feature a gushing waterfall with swimming pool, a bar, a DJ booth and dance floor, a function room, an indoor and outdoor library, a movie room and dining area. Ahhh… What more can you ask for?! I can already imagine holding my own pool party for my birthday! LOL!
Now, the most exciting part during the press launch was the showcasing of the Acqua Iguazu units. There are three interior design inspirations with the themes of Minimal, Nature and Culture.
Minimal uses neutral colors, mostly white, to make it look more spacious. It’s clean and calm with a modern twist.
Nature has a bit more colors than the Minimal theme using natural hues- pale, sun, sea, bleached wood, sand, etc. It’s basically bringing nature into the urban environment.
Culture is a mix of antiques and modern design. It’s very intriguing and captivating.
I find our house very much like the Culture theme. For my pad, I’d like to bring a different twist. Minimal or Nature maybe to give an illusion of a bigger space? How about you? What suits your taste?
